Barbara Takenaga describes her new series of monoprints as follows:
Since the 1980s, I have been interested in the possibilities of printmaking to explore serial variations. Each of these prints share the same key imagery but also are uniquely different through the use of marbled rice papers, hand coloring, collage, installation or other alterations. This series of monoprints is a continuation of recent work using details from Japanese woodblock prints.
