Claire Sherman

Claire Sherman, a painter, made her first lithographs, Tree and Water and Underbrush, at Shark’s in May 2018. Subsequently, she made the lithographic prints Leaves and Vines, Waterfall and Night and Branches.

Her new lithograph Cave “references the claustrophobic space of a cave, coming together as an image while falling apart at the same time.”

Claire Sherman is an Associate Professor at Drew University and lives in New Jersey. She has completed residencies at the Terra Foundation for American Art, the MacDowell Colony, the Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation, Yaddo, The Albers Foundation, and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Workspace program. Recent exhibitions include: solo shows at DC Moore Gallery, NY; Kavi Gupta Gallery, Chicago; KMAC Museum, Louisville; Houldsworth Gallery, London; and Hof and Huyser Gallery, Amsterdam. Sherman’s work is in the UBS Art Collection in London and in the United States, the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, KMAC Museum, and the Margulies Collection.
