“Learning to Fly”

“In my abstract lithograph, Learning to Fly, I attempt to create an uncertain sense of depth and scale, as if celestial bodies are hovering in space, or various microbial lifeforms are floating in a Petri dish. My intent is for there to be an ambiguity as to which shapes, patterns, and colors recede or come forward, or both, depending on where they are in the composition. The interplay of vibrant colors and spherical forms is orderly in design, but there is also a sense of motion, as if this is not a static moment in time, but perhaps a glimpse into an alternate universe”
