“Jacket, Bag, Dress, Watch, Ring”

“In my first print: Jacket, Bag, Dress, Watch, Ring I use fragments of images taken from the pages of fashion magazines. Chosen for their abstract qualities, the brightly colored pictures are digitally reproduced on mulberry paper and layered with sections of ink. The process of working with this material is an exercise to find what I think is beautiful, and to discard what is not. I find the source material is problematic in that it is filled with great color, pattern, texture, and design but also contains much to dislike. The title of the piece refers to the credits used in fashion photographs to name designer sources for clothing and accessories. . I hope to surprise the viewer with a new experience of looking at relationships of color, shape and texture.” Teresa Booth Brown
