“I create meticulously rendered, miniature portraits of endangered animals to highlight issues related to climate change and biodiversity loss. Within fields of flying shapes, twisting lines, and swirling colors, the animals serve as a still point amidst the chaos that threatens them. These small elements exist within a larger, decidedly unnatural environment. The contrast between the animals and the exuberant cacophony of bright, enticing abstraction underscores a contradiction inherent in my vision of contemporary existence.
This lithograph features an image of a northern leopard frog. Overall, amphibian populations in the United States are declining, with the rate of decline being particularly severe in regions such as the Rocky Mountains.”
