Last Rays is an intensely colorful image that evokes the play of light and reflections caused by the late rays of the evening sun as they rake low across the New York skyline. Jacquette captured this view from an elevated perch near Madison Square Park. It is a composite composition of both observed and improvised buildings. It includes the Shake Shack and a glimpse of the statue of Admiral Farragut in the foreground.
Last Rays has been printed in nine colors from eight aluminum plates in an edition of 30, plus proofs, on White Rives BFK paper, 31 3/4 x 35 3/4 inches.
