In this print Morinoue creates an evocative sense of place. He captures the reflections on a pond’s surface and the play of light on the stones lying beneath. He has incorporated a traditional Japanese kimono stencil on the end panels. Morinoue’s skill in cutting the intricate woodblocks and overlaying the colored inks and woodgrain, builds a rich, fabric-like weave of texture. “Edge of the Pond” has been printed in an edition of 30 impressions, plus proofs, on white Thai Mulberry paper 26 x 56″.
